South Yorkshire Motorcycle Training College (SYMTC)

SYMTC is a friendly and professional motorcycle training college that offer exceptionally high standards of tuition for all levels of motorcycle training.

Whether you are looking for Compulsory Basic Training, Direct Access Scheme (DAS) motorcycle training or taking light motorcycle training for a test in South Yorkshire, our Driving Standards Agency (DSA) approved and advanced instructors willhelp you develop your riding skills as you progress from your CBT, through to your motorcycle test.

If, after your test, you wish to improve your skills further, then you will be able to take advantage of our post-test (Pass Plus) and advanced training courses.

Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)

Compulsory Basic Training is the first legal step towards getting your motorcycle licence, and must by law be taken by any new motorcyclist before they ride on the road using L Plates.

CBT is available 7 days per week in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. We currently take pupils from all over South Yorkshire.

Light Motorcycle Training or
Standard Test Training

DSA advises that anyone wishing to take a motorcycle test should obtain further motorcycle training than that received at the basic level (CBT).

We therefore offer training to raise your standard to that required to pass your test for people over the age of 17.

This motorcycle training course allows you to take the standard motorcycle test which restricts the power of your choice of bike to 33bhp for two years.

Direct Accesss Scheme (DAS)
in South Yorkshire

DAS is a motorcycle training course designed to allow over 21-year olds to move straight onto a large capacity motorcycles without having to endure the 2 year 33bhp power restriction.

You will still be required to undertake CBT or have a valid certificate and pass a motorcycle theory test prior to taking the practical test.

Direct Access and Light Motorcycle Courses


A. 5-Day Block Booking or 2 Weekend Packages

This is normally a five-hour training day with 30mins for lunch. Appointments can be tailored to suit individual needs but are usually 0900 – 1430.


B. DAS Course Lessons

These can be arranged in 2-hour lesson periods, including evenings (May – Sep). The lessons can even start from your own home and are on a one-to-one basis.
